A New Season Part 1: Being an NFL Wife
It's that time again. We are trading in the sweet aroma of a carefree off-season and gearing up for the long season ahead. Football season. It is just us three on another adventure together doing this thing called life in a very unnatural kind of way.
People always ask me what it's like to be an NFL wife. They ask with such glimmer in their eyes as if they're dreaming up a response.
Being an NFL wife means creating a new life for yourself and your family when you have to switch teams and move to a different state where you don't know anyone, it means waking up to blood all over the sheets from your husband bleeding through his bandages from his game the night before. (Are sheets tax write-offs?) It means sharing our precious family time with watching film and chiropractic appointments that NEVER end. It means running a household and keeping the fridge stocked with food because no kidding my husband eats close to 5,000 calories a day (that's a lot of food and a lot of cooking)
It means a TON of prayer is going on when your husband is on the field knowing he is risking his life to play the game he loves- giving everything of himself for his teammates. It also means savoring every moment you have together, making those moments last longer, creating new traditions and exploring new towns together, it means celebrating Christmas the day after and still making it just as special, it means finding beauty in every circumstance and understanding that life is what you make it, so let's make it rock! (What movie is that from again?) It also means trusting God in every moment and knowing that the life you have been given is a blessing that comes with so many amazing opportunities to help other people.
